This editorial reflects on Christian hope as a constitutive dimension of faith and a fundamental task of catechesis, taking the Jubilee of 2025 and its motto, “Pilgrims of Hope,” as its starting point. Drawing on the bull Spes non confundit, it distinguishes theological hope from optimism understood as the mere expectation of improvement, grounding Christian hope in God's faithfulness revealed in Jesus Christ. Emphasizing the centrality of the initial proclamation of the Gospel and the personal encounter with Christ, it advocates catechesis capable of educating people in hope within a cultural context marked by uncertainty, secularization, and the fragility of personal relationships. The editorial highlights the importance of listening to people's questions and experiences, accompanying processes of faith development, and respecting each person's pace of growth. It also emphasizes the role of Christian communities as visible signs of hope, particularly through hospitality, accompaniment, inclusion, and service to vulnerable people. Catechists are presented as witnesses to hope whose formation should integrate spiritual, communal, and pedagogical dimensions. Finally, the editorial calls for overcoming both nostalgia and pastoral self-sufficiency, understanding catechesis as a journey of discipleship that opens horizons of meaning and trust amid contemporary difficulties.
