Abstract

The current context—marked by uncertainty, emotional fragility, and the loss of stable points of reference for finding meaning—poses new challenges for the task of catechesis.

This article reflects on the education of hope as a fundamental dimension of contemporary catechesis, integrating insights from theology, psychology, and the Church’s Magisterium. Grounded in the understanding of Christian hope as a theological virtue rooted in the Paschal Mystery of Jesus Christ, the article proposes a model of catechesis that transcends the mere transmission of content; instead, it envisions a process of accompaniment, listening, and the integration of faith with lived experience. Contributions from psychology—particularly regarding resilience, the construction of meaning, and narrative—offer a deeper understanding of the human conditions that foster a hopeful experience of faith. Within this framework, the Christian community and the catechist take on special significance as spaces and mediators of hope. Finally, the article outlines implications for catechetical research and for the training of catechists capable of accompanying individuals through fragility and uncertainty with a Christian hope rooted in real life.
