Abstract

This article examines the relationship between the Church and catechesis in light of the ecclesiological renewal brought about by the Second Vatican Council, with particular attention to the Church as the subject of the transmission of faith. Beginning with the development of the understanding of revelation, the author explores the transition from a catechetical model focused on doctrinal instruction to a conception of catechesis as an ecclesial activity of Christian formation. The discussion addresses the conciliar teaching on the People of God, the common priesthood of the faithful, the sensus fidei, and the relationship between pastors and the Christian community. It also develops an understanding of the particular Church as a concrete manifestation of the universal Church and the primary subject of evangelization. From this perspective, the author argues that each particular Church should develop its own catechetical project, rooted in its history, traditions, charisms, and cultural context. Finally, the article emphasizes the importance of diocesan spirituality, ecclesial belonging, and communion among particular Churches for transmitting the faith in response to contemporary challenges. The reflection concludes by highlighting opportunities for cooperation among the dioceses of Aragon and the contribution of CRETA to the renewal of catechesis.
